Partake Collective was designed to be much more than a set of ghost kitchens, and Luisa Amezcua has demonstrated that concept by launching a night market at the Long Beach location for the last year.
The once-a-month live market benefits Amezcua’s nonprofit LIVE (Lead, Inspire, Validate, Explore) Market, which helps underserved children experience activities they might not otherwise have access to. It also benefits the 15 to 20 vendors – crafts as well as specialty foods – that make up the market.
“We were already doing cooking classes here,” said Luisa, who also is LIVE Market’s Organizer. “Partake’s location clearly was great for a live market, so we tried it starting last July (2024) … The vendor fees all go to the nonprofit.”
The Long Beach markets take place one Friday a month, from 5 to 9 p.m. This month’s market is on Aug. 22. Small businesses and crafters join some of the street food specialty chefs in Partake’s communal space, attracting neighbors and others.
“It’s pretty much word of mouth,” Luisa said. “We live by social media. Most of our communication is through Instagram and TikTok. We want to be a community-driven safe space.”
Partake Collective opened in late 2022 at 456 Elm Ave. in downtown Long Beach. The historic exterior was restored, with the four floors inside completely rebuilt to create 23 different kitchens, a market for tenants to sell packaged goods and a food hall. The floor that includes the food hall and market hosts public events as well as the night market.
A second Partake location is nearing completion in Los Angeles – the Glassell Park neighborhood, to be specific. Luisa is bringing her market concept to the new location as a Sunday day market this Aug. 17.
“We plan to work with local vendors for the NELA (North-East LA) night market too, with various types of vendors,” Luisa said. “We’ll create some foot traffic there, too.”
The Glassell Park market will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Information for both markets can be found at Livemarketevent in both Instagram and TikTok.

Partake Collective offers a wide range of kitchen spaces, including prep spaces, fully equipped commercial kitchens, a Chef’s & Commissary Kitchen and more. Rentals range from hourly and daily to monthly or yearly.
